“Oxfam has been taking volunteers to festivals for over 20 years and it’s a fantastic way to give your time and have a great time doing it. Whether you steward, campaign or volunteer in a festival shop, you will be joining a team of thousands, united by a love of live music, desire to have fun and to help others break free from poverty”.

Here at Petergate we love making a difference with Oxfam, and helping to lift millions out of poverty. Oxfam has many campaigns, from helping refugees in Syria and Jordan to erasing food poverty in our own country. Oxfam also works with volunteers at various festivals across the UK, and with the summer fast approaching, volunteering with Oxfam at a festival could be a great way to see your favourite bands whilst also helping to change the World.

Oxfam has three ways that you can volunteer at a festival; stewarding, campaigning or working at one of their festival shops.

2014 Why Steward You Header

“Your favourite band did an epic set on the main stage. Darth Vader just rode past on a unicycle. And you’ve just helped some of the poorest people in the world to break free from poverty. When you’re an Oxfam steward, you’re the heart of the festival”.

Oxfam needs your help, and what better way to help than by performing as steward at one of UK’s various festivals, or more than one if you’d like, as long as they don’t clash. To find out more information about being a steward, and how to apply, click here.

“Are you passionate about Oxfam? Do you want to play a part in our most exciting year at festivals ever? Do you want to have fun and inspire others to get involved with Oxfam? If you do then we could have a Campaigning Volunteer role for you”.

Campaigning with Oxfam at festivals from Download and Glastonbury to Bestival and WOMAD is a great way to give back, whilst also experiencing some of the festival’s headline acts.

With day time shift you and a team will be responsible with spreading the word about Oxfam’s Emergency Work to fellow festival goers, in an attempt to lift as many people out of poverty as we can.

“Our Oxfam festival shops, staffed mainly by volunteers, raise around £250,000 each summer to help change the lives of people in poverty all around the world”.

Working at one of Oxfam’s Festival Pop-Up shops requires at least three months prior volunteer/employee experience with Oxfam, but is never the less a great way to volunteer at and attend one of your favourite festivals. The role requires retail experience, working with customers, setting up the shop and displaying pricing stock.
