Okay, so at last I am in a position to let everyone know what events we at Petergate have organised for Oxfam Bookfest this year. In case you don’t know Oxfam Bookfest is a national event promoting all things book related within Oxfam. This year we have four events running and they are…

Monday 5th July – Oxfam Book Quiz

The lovely people at Pivo  will be hosting the first ever Oxfam book quiz to be held in York. This will be held in their upstairs room from 8pm there is an entry fee of £5 per team – teams are limited to 4 people.

Thursday 8th July – York Poetry Workshop

Once again we are pleased to host the York Poetry Workshop, this event will be in two halves: members of the group will read their work and after the interval there will be an open session chaired by yours truly. This event is free and we will be serving wine on the night.

Sunday 11th July – Screening of ‘The History Boys’

Our friends at City Screen have agreed to put on a special screening of Alan Bennett’s ‘The History Boys’ the showing starts at 5.30pm and tickets are on sale now for further details see here.

Thursday 15th July – Pat Borthwick

Renowned poet Pat Borthwick will be reading her work in the shop, again the event is free and we will be serving refreshments.
